LUMBOSCIATICA
Lumbosciatica or sciatica, is a condition that manifests with pain in the lumbar spine, caused by irritation or compression ...
The vertebral column has 4 physiological curvatures: cervical lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis and sacro-coccygeal curvature. These curvatures increase the strength and elasticity of the spine, maintaining the normal position of the body.
When thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis are more accentuated, we are talking about cifolordosis, there are 4 distinct types of cifolordosis:
1. Typical cifolordosis, characterized by accentuation of the physiological curvature of the thoracic spine, respectively kyphosis and of the lumbar spine, respectively lordosis.
2. Atypical cifolordosis, characterized by curvatures that do not respect the physiological curves of the thoracic and lumbar spine, being longer or shorter.
3. Habitual cifolordosis, characterized by changes in the paravertebral muscles but also in the ariculations of the spine, caused by deficient postures maintained for long periods of time.
4. Compensatory cifolordosis, which is manifested by the drastic accentuation of one of the curvatures, thoracic kyphosis for example and the compensatory development of another curvature in the opposite direction - lumbar lordosis.
Cifolordosis is usually accompanied by other changes, such as:
➢ Shoulders brought froward
➢ Spreaded shoulder blades
➢ Prominent Abdomen
➢ Accentuated buttock relief

First of all, the poor posture, with the back rolled up and the pelvis tilted forward, the posture characteristic to school years.
We can also speak of growth or developmental disorders, which are manifested with musculoskeletal insufficiency located in the back and spine muscles.
The weight over the normal limit, located in the abdomen area or at the level of the entire body predisposes to the accentuation of the kyphotic and lordotic curvatures.
Even if most cifolordosis are well tolerated during the growth period, problems appear after this period.
Many of the paravertebral pains are the result of mechanical, static and dynamic stresses, which act on a spine with exaggerated curvatures and poorly cushioned due to the reduction of mobility. Due to this fact, cifolordosis can be one of the causes of osteo-articular disorders, such as: discopathies, arthrosis, spondylosis, herniated disc, which is why it must be treated as early as possible.
1. Physical therapy is the key element of the treatment of cyfolordosis, following through specific exercise programs:
✓ Gradual correction of the accentuated kyphotic and lordotic curvatures, restoring the normal alignment of the spine
✓ Relaxation of the paravertebral and abdominal muscles, which is subject to increased pressure and toning of these muscle groups
✓ Increasing the flexibility of the spine, both at the joint and muscular level
✓ Improving breathing
✓ Progressive education of posture, which gradually must be integrated into daily activities
2. Massage and manual therapy are indicated for the recovery of suppleness and muscle flexibility (fighting contractures) and stimulating blood and lymph return circulation.
3. The orthopedic treatment is aimed at correcting and maintaining the corrected posture in order to prevent the risk of aggravation occurring with the growth process. Orthopedic corsets maintain the corrected posture using the traction force that tends to elongate (stretch) the spine, thus reducing the curvature and can be worn permanently or intermittently, depending on the severity of the curvatures.
➢ Maintain a correct posture of the back.
➢ Exercise constantly; swimming is one of the indicated sports.
